Bharatiya Janata Party's Somanagouda B Patil (SASANUR) got a total of 48,245 votes, while Janata Dal (Secular)'s Bhimanagouda (RAJUGOUDA) B PATIL secured 44,892 votes. Indian National Congress's candidate B S Patil (YALAGI) grabbed the third spot with 38,038 votes. The top three parties got 35.0%, 32.5% and 27.6% respectively.
In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Indian National Congress's Aminappagouda Sanganagouda Patil beat Bharatiya Janata Party's Somanagouda. B. Patil (SASANUR) by 8,096 votes.
