Raman Nagar was one of 104 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Bharatiya Janata Party's S. Raghu won the election by upstaging Indian National Congress's R. Sampath Raj by a margin of 12,467 votes.
The top three candidates split 97.3% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's S. Raghu got a total of 59,127 votes, while Indian National Congress's R. Sampath Raj secured 46,660 votes. Janata Dal (Secular)'s candidate P. Ramesh grabbed the third spot with 20,478 votes. The top three parties got 45.6%, 36.0% and 15.8% respectively.
In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Bharatiya Janata Party's S. Raghu defeated Indian National Congress's P. Ramesh by 8,462 votes.
