In the Karnataka Legislative Assembly Election 2018, Chamaraja constituency had 14 candidates for assembly seat contention. Chamaraja was one of 104 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Bharatiya Janata Party's L. Nagendra won the election by upstaging Indian National Congress's Vasu by a margin of 14,936 votes.
The top three candidates split 83.3% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's L. Nagendra got a total of 51,683 votes, while Indian National Congress's Vasu secured 36,747 votes. Janata Dal (Secular)'s candidate K.S Rangappa grabbed the third spot with 27,284 votes. The top three parties got 37.2%, 26.4% and 19.6% respectively.
In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Indian National Congress's Vasu defeated Janata Dal (Secular)'s H.S.Shankaralinge Gowda by 12,915 votes.
