The veteran politician - a former president of the BJP's state unit and a former speaker of the state Assembly - is a five-time MLA looking to make it a second hat-trick of victories. He won the Solan seat thrice - starting from the 2000 bypoll - before he switched to Nahan and won that seat in 2012 and 2017. He is a doctor by profession and twice served as the state's health and family welfare minister - 2007 to 2012 and 2017 to 2019.
