Sorbhog is the assembly constituency which comes under the Barpeta district. It is one of the 126 Assam Legislative Assembly Constituencies . Assam Assembly Election 2021 for Sorbhog was held on April 6 and the result was declared on May 2.
Sorbhog assembly constituency had 1,95,330 electors in 2016, out of which 1,02,568 were male voters and 92,762 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.6% votes.
In the Assam Legislative Assembly Election 2016, Sorbhog constituency had 14 candidates for assembly seat contention. Sorbhog was one of 60 seats won by the Indian National Congress. Bharatiya Janta Party's Ranjeet Kumar Dass won the election by upstaging Indian National Congress's Anurupa Hannan by a margin of 19,526 votes.
72.8% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Bharatiya Janta Party's Ranjeet Kumar Dass grabbed a total of 56,454 votes, while Indian National Congress's Anurupa Hannan got 36,928 votes. Communist Party Of India (Marxist)'s candidate Manoranjan Talukdar bagged 29,082 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 33.6%, 22.0% and 17.3% respectively.
In Assam Assembly election 2011, Bharatiya Janta Party's Ranjeet Kumar Dass beat independent candidate A. Salim by 19,182 votes.
