Sadiya is one of the 126 Assam Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Tinsukia district. Assam Assembly Election 2021 for Sadiya was held on March 27 and the result was declared on May 2.
Sadiya assembly constituency had 1,56,238 electors in 2016, out of which 80,556 were male voters and 75,682 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 1.3% votes.
In 2016, 12 candidates were contesting for Sadiya assembly constituency seat. Sadiya was one of 1 seats won by the independent candidates. Independent candidate Bolin Chetia won the election by defeating Bharatiya Janta Party's Birinchi Neog by a margin of 6,566 votes.
78.4% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Independent candidate Bolin Chetia grabbed a total of 38,845 votes, while Bharatiya Janta Party's Birinchi Neog got 32,279 votes. Indian National Congress's candidate Lakhin Chandra Chetia bagged 22,005 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 32.7%, 27.2% and 18.5% respectively.
In Assam Assembly election 2011, Indian National Congress's Bolin Chetia beat Asom Gana Parisad's Jagadish Bhuyan by 6,867 votes.
