Bharatiya Janta Party's Krishnendu Paul won the election by upstaging All India United Democratic Front's Debendra Kumar Sinha by a margin of 9,268 votes.

Bharatiya Janta Party's Krishnendu Paul got a total of 46,544 votes, while All India United Democratic Front's Debendra Kumar Sinha secured 37,276 votes. Indian National Congress's candidate Moni Lal Gowala grabbed the third spot with 32,048 votes. The top three parties got 38.3%, 30.6% and 26.3% respectively.
In Assam Assembly election 2011, Indian National Congress's Monilal Gowala defeated All India United Democratic Front's Kartik Sena Sinha by 3,224 votes.
