Assam Election: Mahmara Assembly Constituency 2022
Mahmara is one of the 126 Assam Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Sibsagar district. People of Mahmara voted for Assam Assembly Election 2021 on March 27 and the result was declared on May 2.
Mahmara assembly constituency had 1,20,107 electors in 2016, out of which 62,563 were male voters and 57,544 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 1.5% votes.
In the Assam Legislative Assembly Election 2016, Mahmara constituency had 12 candidates for assembly seat contention. Mahmara was one of 60 seats won by the Indian National Congress. Bharatiya Janta Party's Jogen Mohan won the election by upstaging Indian National Congress's Suruj Dehingia by a margin of 14,325 votes.
82.6% of the total votes were casted to top two candidates. Bharatiya Janta Party's Jogen Mohan got a total of 49,036 votes, while Indian National Congress's Suruj Dehingia got 34,711 votes. Asom Gana Parisad's candidate Hiranya Kumar Konwar grabbed 9,316 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties secured 48.3%, 34.2% and 9.2% respectively.
In Assam Assembly election 2011, Indian National Congress's Sarat Saikia defeated Asom Gana Parisad's Hiranya Kumar Konwar by 15,734 votes.
