92.7% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. All India United Democratic Front's Abdur Rahim Ajmal grabbed a total of 65,599 votes, while independent candidate Rejaul Karim Chowdhury got 52,394 votes. Indian National Congress's candidate Bashir Uddin Laskar bagged 23,849 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 42.9%, 34.3% and 15.6% respectively.
In Assam Assembly election 2011, All India United Democratic Front's Mohammed Sirajuddin Ajmal defeated Indian National Congress's Rejaul Karim Chowdhury by 12,726 votes.
