Assam Election: Gossaigaon Assembly Constituency 2022
Gossaigaon is one of the 126 Assam Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Kokrajhar district. People of Gossaigaon voted for Assam Assembly Election 2021 on April 6 and the result was declared on May 2.
In 2016, the Gossaigaon assembly seat had 1,66,057 registered voters. Of the, 86,020 were male and 80,037 were female voters. 0.9% of votes were casted for NOTA.
In the 2016 Assam Legislative Assembly Election, there were 7 candidates in the fray from Gossaigaon constituency. Gossaigaon was one of 12 seats won by the All India United Democratic Front. It was a close contest with Bodaland Peoples Front's Majendra Narzary winning the election upstaging All India United Democratic Front's Ravi Sankar Kasireddy by a margin of just 6,041 votes.
The top three candidates split 83.1% of votes between them. Bodaland Peoples Front's Majendra Narzary got a total of 45,517 votes, while All India United Democratic Front's Ravi Sankar Kasireddy secured 39,476 votes. Indian National Congress's candidate Ashim Hasda grabbed the third spot with 32,187 votes. The top three parties got 32.3%, 28.0% and 22.8% respectively.
In Assam Assembly election 2011, Bodaland Peoples Front's Majendra Narzary outperformed independent candidate Khairul Alam Miah by 20,945 votes.
