Digboi comes under the Tinsukia district and it is one of the 126 Assam Legislative Assembly Constituencies . People of Digboi voted for Assam Assembly Election 2021 on March 27 and the result was declared on May 2.
In 2016, the Digboi assembly seat had 1,15,517 registered voters. Of the, 59,323 were male and 56,194 were female voters. 1.9% of votes were casted for NOTA.
In 2016, 8 candidates were contesting for Digboi assembly constituency seat. Digboi was one of 60 seats won by the Indian National Congress. Bharatiya Janta Party's Suren Phukan won the election by defeating Indian National Congress's Gautam Dhanowar by a margin of 14,293 votes.
The top two candidates split 90.1% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janta Party's Suren Phukan got a total of 49,167 votes, while Indian National Congress's Gautam Dhanowar secured 34,874 votes. Independent candidate Pranab Chetia secured 4,841 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 52.7%, 37.4% and 5.2% respectively.
In Assam Assembly election 2011, Indian National Congress's Rameswar Dhanowar defeated Bharatiya Janta Party's Suren Phukan by 10,758 votes.
