Dhekiajuli comes under the Sonitpur district and it is one of the 126 Assam Legislative Assembly Constituencies . People of Dhekiajuli voted for Assam Assembly Election 2021 on March 27 and the result was declared on May 2.
Dhekiajuli assembly constituency had 1,75,210 electors in 2016, out of which 91,787 were male voters and 83,423 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 1.4% votes.
In the Assam Legislative Assembly Election 2016, Dhekiajuli constituency had 9 candidates for assembly seat contention. Total 60 seats were won by the Indian National Congress, Dhekiajuli was one of them. The election for Dhekiajuli seat was comfortably won by Bharatiya Janta Party's Ashok Singhal defeating Indian National Congress's Habul Chakraborty by a huge margin of 34,995 votes.
The top three candidates split 87.9% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janta Party's Ashok Singhal secured a total of 71,425 votes, while Indian National Congress's Habul Chakraborty got 36,430 votes. Independent candidate Dhaniram Rajowar bagged 16,690 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 50.4%, 25.7% and 11.8% respectively.
In Assam Assembly election 2011, Indian National Congress's Habul Chakraborty outperformed Asom Gana Parisad's Apurba Kumar Bhattacharjee by 20,447 votes.
