Chabua is one of the 126 Assam Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Dibrugarh district. Assam Assembly Election 2021 for Chabua was held on March 27 and the result was declared on May 2.
Chabua assembly constituency had 1,35,705 electors in 2016, out of which 68,990 were male voters and 66,715 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 2.2% votes.
In the Assam Legislative Assembly Election 2016, Chabua constituency had 5 candidates for assembly seat contention. Total 60 seats were won by the Indian National Congress, Chabua was one of them. The election for Chabua seat was comfortably won by Bharatiya Janta Party's Binod Hazarika defeating Indian National Congress's Raju Sahu by a huge margin of 30,754 votes.
The top two candidates split 95.5% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janta Party's Binod Hazarika got a total of 69,351 votes, while Indian National Congress's Raju Sahu secured 38,597 votes. Independent candidate Debnath Majhi secured 2,516 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 61.4%, 34.1% and 2.2% respectively.
In Assam Assembly election 2011, Indian National Congress's Raju Sahu beat Bharatiya Janta Party's Binod Hazarika by 11,108 votes.
