Bilasipara West is the assembly constituency which comes under the Dhubri district. It is one of the 126 Assam Legislative Assembly Constituencies . Assam Assembly Election 2021 for Bilasipara West was held on April 6 and the result was declared on May 2.
Bilasipara West assembly constituency had 1,47,151 electors in 2016, out of which 75,464 were male voters and 71,687 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.5% votes.
In 2016, 14 candidates were contesting for Bilasipara West assembly constituency seat. Bilasipara West was one of 13 seats won by the Independent. All India United Democratic Front's Hafiz Bashir Ahmed won the election by defeating independent candidate Ali Akbar Miah by a margin of 11,202 votes.
The top three candidates split 75.4% of votes between them. All India United Democratic Front's Hafiz Bashir Ahmed got a total of 44,407 votes, while independent candidate Ali Akbar Miah secured 33,205 votes. Indian National Congress's candidate Sabana Aktar grabbed the third spot with 25,515 votes. The top three parties got 32.5%, 24.3% and 18.7% respectively.
In Assam Assembly election 2011, All India United Democratic Front's Hafiz Bashir Ahmed defeated Indian National Congress's Ali Akbar Miah by 3,784 votes.
