CBSE Class 12 Boards day one: English ‘fairly easy’ for most students

Day 1 of the CBSE Class 12 Board exams is over and the first paper, English, has been easy for most of the students. While 8,86,506 candidates have registered for the Class 10 examination, 15.73% more than last year’s figure, a total of 10,98,981 students have enrolled for Class 12 exams, a 2.82% increase from the preceding year’s number.

For Shweta Hazare, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Sector 8, Rohini, the exam was “nice.” When teachers put a lot of effort and you study with loyalty, the result is bound to be positive,” she says. Her classmate Ashwini Kumar Jha also found the paper very easy as he had learnt the Rapid Reader and novel section “by heart.”

Pragati, also from the same school found the paper lengthy, especially the last question on the novel section. But, she said, she managed to finish it on time.

Vaibhav Sinha of Prince Public School in Mehrauli completed the exam before time and gave his performance a 10 on 10. He said he is fairly relaxed about the preparations as his parents have not exerted any pressure on him regarding their expectations.

Jha said the paper had “increased his confidence” levels and he was waiting for the next exam. Simran, a Class 12 student of St Joseph’s Academy, Savita Vihar, who studied just “two days before exam” was confident of getting a score of more than 90. “I am very thankful to my English teacher Lata Menon. I wish all the exams could be like this,” she added.

Vaisnavi of the same school found the paper “good but a little lengthy. I just read my textbook and my parents wished me best of luck for examination,” she said.

For Nitin from Bharat National public School, the paper was “perfect and quite interesting. I worked very hard for this exam and thoroughly revised everything. I hope other examinations will be quite easy.”

Many others who wished they had done better included Anshika, a Class 12 student of Green fields Public School, Dilshad Garden. “I found the “unseen passage to be a little tough. To score the best marks in exam I had read my books very carefully.”

Vaishali Sharma from the same school had “mixed feelings. Those three hours were very tough for me as a lot of time was wasted in filling the OMR sheet. The paper was little tough as compared to last year’s exam but I managed to finish on time. I prepared my notes to score good marks.”
