With Bihar board Class 10 exam results set to be announced within a few hours, it is anxious moments for the students.
All eyes will be on Bihar’s model English-medium school, Simultala Awasiya Vidyalaya, which debuted with a record-breaking performance last year — 19 students secured more than 96%, a record since the inception of the Bihar State Education Board (BSEB) in 1952, and 70 students scored between 90% and 96%.
The school was setup on the lines of Netarhat Vidyalaya, now in Jharkhand.
“This year, there should not be any surprise if the school repeats its performance in Class 10 board exams yet again. It will certainly dominate, though we cannot say how many of them will actually figure at the top,” said a board official.
For other students, these last few hours are filled with anxiety and restlessness. “I have already taken admission in engineering foundation course and have to leave for Kota,” said Sumit Kumar, who hopes to score more than 90%.
A large number of students opt for coaching both within and outside Bihar after Class 10, but there is a sense of apprehension given a steep fall in intermediate results due to tougher questions and strict evaluation.
“We are worried with the intermediate trend. If the results drop, we won’t be able to get admission in good institutions. In CBSE, the results have been very good. Let’s see,” said a student, waiting at a cyber cafe with friends for the results.
The results will be available on the official website of the BSEB, www.biharboard.ac.in, in a few hours.
