The apex body of Hindu sadhus, Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad, said they would not hesitate in declaring such saints as fake who continue to associate with the TRP-hungry TV shows, the second list of ‘fake babas’ will be out after Divali

Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad (ABAP), the apex body of Hindu sadhus, Wednesday said that they might name tantric (occultist) and spiritual healer Shivani Durgah in the second list of fake babas and godmen.

Shivani is one of the 19 contestants in the eleventh season of the reality television show Bigg Boss.

The parishad’s president Mahant Narendra Giri said they would not hesitate in declaring such saints as fake who continue to associate with the TRP hungry TV shows.

“For money and media mileage, such self-styled fake saints take part in such shows or give media bytes. We will not tolerate this and will induct such controversial names in fake saint list, which is being compiled,” said Mahant Narendra.

The second list is expected to be released after Diwali. The first list, released last month, had named 14 ‘fake babas’ including rape accused Asaram Bapu, rape convict and Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh and Radhe Ma.

“In the first list we had also included the name of Swami Om, who had taken part in the Bigg Boss’s season 10,” the Mahant added.

He said that by participating in such shows, the “saints are doing more harm to the Sanatan Dharma”.

Bharat Sadhu Samaj’s national vice president, Brahamswarup Brahamchari, said that the Censor Board and the Broadcasting Corporation should come up with guidelines so that religious sentiments don’t get hurt.

“Self-proclaimed Swami Om ate non-vegetarian food during his stint in the show. It is a fact he himself accepted. Both, the producers of the show and the participants play games for cheap publicity and TRP and rake in huge money. This should stop. True saints and seers should bring repute to Sanatan Dharma not disrepute” said Mahamandaleshwar Harichetnanand Maharaj of Hari Har Ashram.

A tantric, Shivani holds two PhDs from Chicago University. Originally a resident of Rajasthan, she lived in Mumbai for several years before moving to Noida earlier this year.
