Accusing the BJP of making a U-turn on its promise to build the Ram temple at Ayodhya, a large section of saints and akhadas has demanded enactment of a law to pave the way for the temple construction at Ram Janambhoomi in Ayodhya

Accusing the BJP of making a U-turn on its promise to build the Ram temple at Ayodhya, a large section of saints and akhadas (organisations of saints) has demanded enactment of a law to pave the way for the temple construction at Ram Janambhoomi in Ayodhya.

In a meeting held at Niranjani Akhada on Wedneday, Jagadguru Hansdevacharya said that the centre should bring in a law in the parliament’s monsoon session itself to clear the way for the temple construction.

Accusing the BJP of playing politics over the Ram Janambhoomi issue, Bharat Sadhu Samaj national vice president Brahamswarup Brahamchari said that before coming to power, BJP used the saint community and played with the sentiments of Hindus claiming that whenever it will come to power its first work will be to build the Ram temple at Ayodhya.

“But now being twice in power for six years during Atal Bihari Vajpayee regimen and now under Narendra Modi for four years, in fact BJP is again fooling people by saying, it doesn’t have majority in Rajya Sabha,” he added.

“Whether it is construction of Lord Ram temple at Ayodhya, abrogation of Article 370 or Uniform Civil Code, BJP has failed to implement them, which it vociferously raised during elections. Saint community and billions of Indians are fast losing hope; it’s high time BJP enacts a law for the construction of Ayodhya temple,” he further added.

Spiritual guru and head of Shri Dakshin Kali temple Mahamandaleshwar Kailashanand Brahamchari too has urged the BJP government to cater to the demand of saints and countrymen to construct Ram temple at Ayodhya.

Saints are also mulling over staging a massive on-foot awareness march regarding the temple construction. “Saints need to carry out an awareness and sensitisation march from Haridwar to New Delhi,” suggested Swami Anand Giri.

“We have to wake up the government as we don’t want another poll promise (hinting to next year parliamentary election). Already much time has been taken by the BJP and it’s time to live up to the promise it made to saint community and people of this country,” said Giri.

Recently, Akhil Bharatiya Akhada Parishad, the governing body of the akhadas, had also demanded the construction of Ram temple at Ayodhya. Mahant Narendra Giri, the president of the council, had urged saints from across the country to get united and come under the council’s banner to press for the demand.
