An army major was booked by the Cantonment police on Saturday for allegedly raping a woman on the pretext of marriage and threatening to kill her.
The major first raped the woman on the pretext of marriage in Gurgaon where she used to live with him, the police said.(HT File)
According to the police, the case was registered against Abhishek Chikara, the army major, after the police received a complaint from the woman by post on Friday evening.
In the complaint, the woman mentioned that she is a resident of Vikas Nagar area. The major first raped her on the pretext of marriage in Gurgaon where she used to live with him, the police said.
“Some time after the incident, she returned to her home in Dehradun, but he was in regular contact with him. Later when he came to Indian Millitary Academy (IMA) here, he invited her there for a meeting, but raped her there too on pretext of marrying her,” said Shankar Singh Bisht, the station house officer of Cantonment.
“However, when she confronted him to marry her, he refused and threatened to kill her,” Bisht added.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the IPC and investigations have started, the police said.
