Yuvraj Singh weds model Hazel Keech in traditional Sikh ceremony

Yuvraj Singh tied the knot with British- Mauritian model Hazel Keech in gurudwara Dera Baba Ram Singh in Daferra village on Wednesday evening in Punjab’s Fatehgarh Sahib district.

The India and Punjab cricketer, the bride, Yuvraj’s mother Shabnam and Hazel’s parents first met dera head Bab Ram Singh before the Sikh wedding ritual was conducted. Yuvraj’s family made it a low key affair with only close relatives and friends invited to the dera.

Yuvraj, 34, wore a maroon sherwani in traditional style while Hazel, 29, was decked in ornaments matching her dark red ‘lehenga’ and ‘chura’. Yuvraj wore a turban with ‘sehra’ (veil of flower). Yuvraj and Hazel wore necklace of white pearls.

The ceremony was initially supposed to be held at 11 am and many dera devotees and Yuvraj fans reached the venue at 10 am. However, they realised the function had been postponed to 2.30 pm, and to their disappointment, the programme was delayed again.

A huge gathering had assembled in front of the dera’s main gate when Yuvraj’s bouncers and some guests reached the venue. However, there was some further confusion when the bride and groom with other family members entered through the back gate, leaving some guests standing outside with bouquets to welcome the couple waiting.

Three entrance points to the hall where the wedding ritual was held was guarded by more than a dozen bouncers. Still, some of the guests could not enter the hall while there were others who chose to remain outside as the hall was packed with devotees and fans.

Those who sat beside the couple were keen to witness the rituals while devotees inside the hall were more interested in the dera head reciting the holy verses, a rare thing for them. Yuvi’s fans tried to sneak a peek at every window of the hall, making videos and clicking photographs.
