'Who are these 43% clowns?': IPL mocked over KL Rahul vs Shikhar Dhawan 'India legend' poll during PBKS-LSG tie

Broadcasters of the Indian Premier League (IPL), on TV and on digital platform, in a bid to keep the viewers at home engaged, tend to post various questions to know the views of the fans. The most common technique has been through poll. On Friday, when Lucknow Super Giants took on Punjab Kings at the Mohali ground, IPL posted an 'India legend' question comparing the two captains KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan, however, the broadcasters were mocked mercilessly over the questions. After loss at home against defending champions Gujarat Titans, Lucknow Super Giants travelled to Mohali to take on Punjab Kings on Friday. LSG skipper KL Rahul has been under-fire for his sluggish knock in the previous match and his strike rate in the ongoing IPL 2023. However, he suffered an early dismissal on Friday, going for 12 off nine, after Punjab Kings captain Shikhar Dhawan opted to bowl first.

After his dismissal, IPL broadcasters flashed a poll: "Which Indian legend will finish his IPL career with more runs - Dhawan or Rahul?". The fan poll was open on IPL's website and the broadcasters later flashed the response after LSG were down for two wickets in their innings. Dhawan was favoured slightly (57 per cent) over Rahul (47).

However, fans were left bemused at not the question, but at KL Rahul being addressed as an "India legend". Here is how Twitter reacted…

The reason behind fans reacting to the poll has largely been because of the ongoing criticism directed at Rahul over his strike rate. In eight matches, he has scored 274 runs and has been among the contenders for the Orange Cap, as he has been for almost each of the last few seasons, but the runs have come at a strike rate of only 114.64 with two fifties.
