He said in the presentation ceremony that this was his last T20I match, thus ending what is probably the greatest T20I career in the nearly two-decade history of this format. Indian captain Rohit Sharma then told reporters in the post-match press conference that he has played his last T20I as well. Ravindra Jadeja announced his retirement from the format the next day.

Pandya conceded just eight more runs in that over. Cue tears and pandemonium.

Those who know Mumbai would tell you that it would take just over half an hour to walk that distance but this is an open top bus parade and there are expected to be crores of fans on the road.

Team India returns home LIVE updates: Virat Kohli hit a match-winning 76 to help India defeat South Africa in the final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 on Saturday. After lifting the famous trophy, Rohit Sharma's Team India was stranded for three days in Barbados due to Hurricane Beryl. The BCCI arranged an Air India special charter flight (AIC24WC) for the Indian squad, its support staff, the players' families and members of the travelling media contingent. The special flight with call sign AIC24WC is set to touch dow in New Delhi.
