Rohit Sharma injury to be assessed in England, ruled out of Test series
Rohit Sharma had injured himself while batting during the final ODI against New Zealand in Visakhapatnam. He continued to bat on even after he picked up the injury and that could have aggravated it further.
An upper thigh injury has ruled out Rohit Sharma for the whole of the five-Test series against England beginning in Rajkot from November 9.

“Rohit Sharma is seriously injured as we saw on television. He will be assessed in England and may have to undergo surgery. If he doesn’t have to undergo surgery he may need eight to 10 weeks. He will be out of the Test series,” chairman of selectors MSK Prasad said after the committee meeting in Mumbai on Wednesday.

“He was finding it difficult to run and so we had asked him to go for his shots,” limited overs skipper MS Dhoni was quoted as saying after India wrapped up the five-match series 3-2 with an emphatic 190-run win last week.
KL Rahul, who had suffered a hamstring injury after the first Test against New Zealand, is yet to recover and has also been left out of the squad.
Gautam Gambhir had replaced Rahul in the squad during the series and the Delhi southpaw is likely to feature in the playing XI as well against England.
