Re-charged Deccan to face Super Kings
Gilchrist will hope they would raise the bar once again in what could be termed as the second virtual quarterfinal against the in-form Chennai Super Kings on Saturday.
Just before the toss against the Royal Challengers Bangalore, the Deccan Chargers captain Adam Gilchrist spoke about the peace of mind a player experiences when he knows that only one result could keep them alive.
That clarity of thought bailed out the defending champions on Thursday and Gilchrist will hope they would raise the bar once again in what could be termed as the second virtual quarterfinal against the in-form Chennai Super Kings on Saturday. With just eight points from 10 games, Chargers need to win all their games for the semifinal spot.
On the other hand, Mahendra Singh Dhoni's men are back after a three-day break following their win over the Mumbai Indians. Also presence of the Indian captain in the opposition could mean more support for the visitors than the home team at the VCA ground, Jamtha.
Having changed the playing XI regularly in the last few games, the Chargers would like to stick to the winning combination. That could mean Herschelle Gibbs may again sit out. Their bowling is still not up to the mark and the Super Kings would like to exploit their lack of confidence to get one foot in the semifinals.
After three consecutive wins that have brought CSK back in the hunt, Dhoni would not like to let the momentum slip.
