Ravindra Jadeja catches first glimpse of daughter. This was the star’s reaction

Ravindra Jadeja had to wait for over a month to catch the first glimpse of his daughter Nidhyana. The priceless moment arrived on Wednesday as Jadeja’s wife waited for the India all-rounder to arrive in Mumbai from the West Indies tour.

Though Jadeja was busy with the promotional event here on Wednesday, his attention was mainly on his wife and the newborn baby, who were also present. Even as he spoke to reporters on the sidelines, Jadeja was constantly bothered about his wife and daughter. He was at ease once they were safely escorted to their hotel room.

“It was a special feeling. I don’t realise anything now but as I spend more time with the baby, then I will get more attached. It is a good thing for me and everyone in the family are very happy. Sometimes when I go home, I get bored. So now, I have a toy to play with… it will be a good time pass for me,” said Jadeja on entering the fatherhood phase in his life.

Jadeja was in England for the ICC Champions Trophy when his wife Reeva Solanki gave birth to the baby girl. After ending up as runners-up in the tournament, Jadeja headed to the West Indies for the five ODIs and a T20 International.

Unlike other international cricketers who prefer to stay beside their wife at the time of birth of their child, Jadeja chose to stay with the Indian team to fulfill his commitment.

“My mind was diverting for the first few days (when she was born). But when I thought about it, I realised that this (Indian team) too is important. There are very few who get a chance to play for the country. I am very fortunate to be amongst those few ones. There are many people in the family to take care of the baby. So, instead of going home (to see the baby), I stayed back and gave my 100 per cent to help my team win the matches,” said Jadeja.
