Team India will return for the third and final ODI of the series against Australia on Wednesday at the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. India faced a humiliating defeat in the second ODI in Visakhapatnam, as the Aussies bowled the hosts out on merely 117 before chasing down the target in merely 11 overs. Rohit Sharma had made a return to the XI in the second ODI but failed to make a mark, as Mitchell Starc ran through a hapless Indian batting order, taking his fifth five-wicket haul.

The venue for the third and final ODI – the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai – will host an international match after over two years. Earlier this month, Indian Premier League franchise Chennai Super Kings set up their training camp at the iconic stadium and many CSK stars including captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni broke sweat in the net sessions as they prepared for the 2023 edition of the league, which kickstarts on March 31.

As the stadium saw certain redesigning with the international match approaching, Dhoni was snapped sitting under India's dugout which was added to the venue. In a fitting tribute, the Super Kings shared the picture with an iconic caption.

“Main pal do pal ka shayar hu…” (I'm a poet for a moment or two) the CSK wrote, referring to the song used by Dhoni in the video announcing his international retirement in 2020.

Widely regarded as one of the greatest captains in cricketing history, Dhoni led Indian team to wins in the T20 World Cup (2007) and the ODI World Cup (2011). He also won two ICC Test Maces in a stellar cricket career. Interestingly, India's last ICC trophy also came under Dhoni's captaincy in 2013, when the side lifted the Champions Trophy after beating England in the final.

Dhoni had returned to Team India in a mentorship role briefly during the T20 World Cup in 2021, but the side faced an early elimination in the group stages of the tournament.

It is widely speculated that the 2023 edition of the IPL will be Dhoni's last as a player; however, there has been no official announcement on the same so far. The Chennai Super Kings will meet defending champions Gujarat Titans in the opening clash of IPL 2023.
