Dhoni bowls to Dhoni: CSK's mind-boggling 'Multiverse of Mahi' post; fans say 'Orange and purple cap in one video'

Preparations for the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) are in full throttle. With international fixtures on a a break, most players have already joined their franchise's practice camp while few had begun their preparations a lot earlier. Former India captain MS Dhoni, who retired from international duties in 2020, was among the first to have arrived at the Chennai Super Kings camp with the franchise sharing clips to provide update to their fans about how far they are with their preparations.

On Thursday, CSK shared a mind-boggling video of their captain at the nets the video of which shows Dhoni bowling to Dhoni. It was captioned as: "The Multiverse of Mahi! #WhistlePodu #Yellove."

In the video, Dhoni is seen rolling his arms at the nets at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, bowling to himself as he hits it for a six. But the legendary cricketer's reaction at the end of the video was pure gold. Well, it was classic video editing to keep fans engaged and they truly loved it.

"Orange cap and purple cap holder in single video," said one of the fans while another added saying, "Looks Like Best Vs Best?"

CSK, who were the defending champions in 2022, had incurred a forgettable season in the 15th edition of the league. Dhoni had stepped down from captaincy on the eve of the tournament with Ravindra Jadeja being named the skipper. CSK lost five of their first six matches to fall to the bottom end of the table amid the all-rounder's struggling form. Dhoni later took over the captaincy, but failed to change CSK's fortunes. The franchise finished ninth in the table with four wins in 14 matches.

Dhoni is likely to remain the skipper for the 2023 season as CSK will aim to put behind the last season. Although with Dhoni, nothing is certain especially since the start of speculations that England all-rounder Ben Stokes was roped in to hand over the captaincy reins to him. Fans will still have to wait and watch.

CSK will be kicking off the season when they take on defending champions Gujarat Lions in Ahmedabad on March 31.
