Amid Covid-19 pandemic, Mohammed Shami distributes food and water to migrants
The BCCI posted a video of Shami, who is seen wearing a mask and gloves, handing out food packets and masks to people travelling in buses and those at the food distribution centres.
India fast bowler Mohammed Shami on Tuesday started distributing food packets and masks for migrant workers who were travelling back to their homes, amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The right-arm also set up food distribution centres for the migrants nearby his house in Sahaspur, Uttar Pradesh. In a video posted by Board of Control for Cricket in India, Shami was seen distributing relief materials to migrant workers who were travelling in buses, and were at the distribution center.

“As #IndiaFightsCorona, @MdShami11 comes forward to help people trying to reach home by distributing food packets & masks on National Highway No. 24 in Uttar Pradesh. He has also set up food distribution centres near his house in Sahaspur,” the BCCI wrote.
“We are in this together,” the BCCI post added. The coronavirus enforced lockdown has triggered a migrant movement crisis in the country with lakhs of people trying to get back home battling extreme heat and hunger. The novel coronavirus outbreak has so far claimed over 5000 lives and infected close to 2 lakh people in the country.
Various former and current players of the Indian cricket team, along with the BCCI, have already made contributions towards the Prime Ministers Citizens Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM-CARES Fund) and state relief funds set up for fight against COVID-19.
