Cheteshwar Pujara slammed his third double century and he was involved in a record 199-run stand for the seventh wicket with Wriddhiman Saha, who smashed his third century. The partnership was a record for the seventh wicket in Tests between India and Australia.

Pujara became only the third Indian batsman to score two double tons in Tests versus Australia. VVS Laxman and Sachin Tendulkar are the other Indian players to have achieved this feat. Ravindra Jadeja chipped in with a vital fifty as India ended up with a 152-run lead. With the ball, Jadeja wrecked havoc as he picked up two wickets as Australia ended the day on 23/2.
