IND vs NZ: Colin Murno was taking the game away from the visitors but a timely breakthrough helped India get back into the game. Kohli’s efforts sent back Munro for 64.

India skipper Virat Kohli was at his majestic best as he effected a brilliant run-out to get rid of Colin Munro during the fourth T20I of five-match series at Westpac Stadium in Wellington on Friday. Murno was taking the game away from the visitors but a timely breakthrough helped India get back into the game as they once again beat New Zealand in Super Over to go 4-0 up in the series

In the 12th over of the Kiwi chase, Munro hit a Shivam Dube delivery towards mid-wicket and was jogging back for a double. Shardul Thakur threw the ball towards the bowler from the boundary but the ball could only reach Kohli at short mid-wicket. He caught the ball mid-way and effected a direct hit at the striker’s end.

Munro had no clue about Kohli’s plans and was caught off-guard by the Indian skipper. When Kohli threw the ball at the stumps, Munro tried his bet to get inside the crease but the pace of the ball beat him to it.

Speaking on his dismissal, Munro said: “We talk about running quickly between the wickets and then I was dawdling with that second one, and Kohli picks up and does some magical work and that’s it.”

Earlier, New Zealand’s spinners kept a check on the batsmen before Manish Pandey powered India to 165/8 in 20 overs with a masterful half century. The hosts were without regular skipper Kane Williamson who was out with a shoulder niggle.

Tim Southee was given the armband in Williamson’s absence and he marshalled his troops well. Ish Sodhi was the pick of the bowlers as he ended with outstanding figures of 3/26 while Mitchell Santner bagged one wicket and conceded 26 runs.

Chasing 166, New Zealand were coasting at one stage before the hosts imploded to be restricted to 165/7. Needing 7 runs off Shardul Thakur’s last over, the Kiwis buckled under pressure and lost four wickets as India took the match into the Super Over for the second consecutive game.
