ICC World Cup 2019: Former Kiwi cricketer on why Virat Kohli & co are a tough team to beat

Former New Zealand fast bowler Danny Morrison has expressed that India is a tough team to beat in the ICC World Cup 2019 because of the camaraderie MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli share on and off the field. Morrison said that he loves the way how Kohli and Dhoni chat and react.

“Having someone like MS Dhoni there as his predecessor. I love the way they can chat and react. They obviously have a great rapport also with coach Ravi Shastri in the picture. I think he has a great ally in MS Dhoni because we know what he used to produce as a captain in tough situations. That’s why I think India is tough to beat,” Morrison told India Today.

Morrison added that he would have liked to see Virat Kohli give up his captaincy at the Royal Challengers Bangalore and just enjoy his batting in the recently concluded Indian Premier League.

“I would have liked to have Virat relax his captaincy in IPL, just focus on his batting, have a breather, have some downtime. When you are captaining everything, it has to impact you. I think am not alone and other former players who have seen the IPL closely, am saying what some colleagues of mine have said that Virat should have rested in IPL,” said Morrison.

The Indian team will take on South Africa in their first World Cup match on June 5 and they will be playing against New Zealand and Bangladesh in warm-up matches on May 25 and May 28 respectively.
