A Shane Watson special ensured Chennai Super Kings beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by six wickets in a thrilling Indian Premier League (IPL) encounter at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai on Tuesday.

However, things could have been completely different for the three-time champions had Jonny Bairstow kept hold of Shane Watson’s catch in the 9th over of the Chennai chase. On the second ball of the over, medium-pacer Sandeep Sharma produced an edge off Watson’s bat and it was flying past the wicket-keeper. Baitstow went towards his right and but could keep hold of the ball despite reaching it .
After this reprieve, Watson set the Chepauk alight with some powerful hitting and ended up scoring 96 runs to play a vital role in Chennai’s scintillating win. His 53-ball innings included nine boundaries and six humongous sixes.

Hyderabad skipper Bhuvneshwar Kumar would have been left thinking what would have happened had Watson’s catch been taken so early in the innings. Not just the Australian fired CSK to a win in this clash but he has also returned to form in stunning style as the teams move into the business end of the season.
