Lok Sabha 2019 constituency: Will Trinamool Congress keep Medinipur?

This year, the Trinamool has nominated Manas Bhunia to contest the Lok Sabha election.

The Medinipur parliamentary constituency in West Bengal was the stronghold of the Communist Party of India (CPI) until 2014 when the Trinamool Congress took over.

Sandhya Roy of the ruling Trinamool defeated the CPI’s Probodh Panda, who had represented the Medinipur Lok Sabha seat since 2001, in the general election in 2014. Before Panda, the CPI has held the Medinipur general seat since1980.

This year, the Trinamool has nominated Manas Bhunia to contest the Lok Sabha election.
