Lok Sabha 2019 constituency: Trinamool Congress has held West Bengal’s Barasat since 2009
Barasat will vote on May 19, the seventh and last phase of polling, and the result will be declared on May 23.
Kakali Ghosh Dastidar of the Trinamool Congress is the current member of Parliament from Barasat Lok Sabha seat in West Bengal.

Kakali Ghosh Dastidar had won from the general seat in the 2009 Lok Sabha election for the first time against All India Forward Bloc’s Sudin Chattopadhyay. Dastidar beat Chattopadhyay by a margin of 122,901 votes.
She defeated Mortaza Hossain of the Forward Bloc in the next general election in 2014. Magician PC Sorcar Jr had also contested the election that year on a Bharatiya Janata Party ticket and placed third.
Dastidar has been fielded again by the ruling Trinamool for the 2019 Lok Sabha election.
