Lok Sabha 2019 constituency: Rohtak in Haryana is a Hooda stronghold

The Rohtak parliamentary constituency in Haryana is the bastion of Congress’ former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and his lawmaker son Deepender Singh Hooda.

The Congress has won the Lok Sabha elections 11 out 17 times on the Rohtak Lok Sabha seat as the sitting member of Parliament Deepender Singh Hooda, his father Bhupinder Singh Hooda, and grandfather Ranbir Singh Hooda have represented it nine times. Deepender Singh Hooda, 41, fought the Narendra Modi wave to emerge as the only Congress leader from Haryana to make it to the Lok Sabha in 2014.

Rohtak, known as the political capital of Haryana and is largely dominated by the Jats, cover the entire district of Rohtak, and those of Rewari and Jhajjar partially. It has nine assembly segments of Meham, Garhi Sampla-Kiloi, Rohtak, Kalanaur, Bahadurgarh, Badli, Jhajjar, Beri and Kosli.

All the ten parliamentary constituencies in Haryana will vote in the sixth round of the seven-phased Lok Sabha election on May 12. The votes will be counted on May 23.
