Strict vigilance needed

We need strict policing and awareness about crime in the city in various schools and colleges. The so-called Koyta gang needs to be kept in check. These are youths from various parts of the city, all of whom are under the age of 20. These youngsters must realise the authority of the Pune police. On the other hand, it is the responsibility of the parents to keep an eye on their children. They should keep track of who their children hang out with, what they watch, and other factors.

Set up checkpoints near industrial zones

Workers are present around the clock in industrial areas such as Bhosari MIDC, Chakan MIDC, and Talavade. As a result, it is also necessary to provide protection at night. There are numerous instances where industrialists and labourers are afraid to file a complaint. Furthermore, most of the area is not covered by security cameras. All such sensitive zones must be identified and monitored. There should be multiple checkpoints to corner or track down thugs.

Announce cash rewards

To apprehend gangsters, city cops must offer cash rewards to members of the public who provide information about the city’s Koyta gang. Ordinary citizens who catch these gangsters should be rewarded with up to 10,000. The police should conduct a covert operation to demolish the Koyta gang.

Sellers should remain alert

Police should investigate whether any criminal nexus is working behind the scenes to save the minors involved in these crimes. Police have ordered that the citizens who intend to buy Koyta should produce an Aadhaar card and record their name and address with the seller. Every koyta seller should adhere to these guidelines.

Raju Paranjape

Act against those involved

Since many of the children in the Koyta gang are minors, the provisions of the Prevention of Juvenile Crime Act should be used against them. Police should increase patrolling in the localities where incidents of the Koyta gang have happened. People associated with the gang should face harsh punishment.

Kalyani Khole

Ban koytas in market

Police should come with more stringent action. Koytas are sold roadside at weekly markets. It should be completely banned. If a resident discovers a group of people living with koytas, they should report them to the police station.

Devika Ghole

Form a squad to tackle the gang

People are beginning to suspect that these gangs have tacit police support. I feel a special police team should be formed and this Koyta gang that has flourished in the state should be dealt with immediately.

Akshay Shende

Cops need to act tough

It is a big blot on Pune Police as to why these Koyta gang groups are still not in control. Their terror activities are rising every day and no concrete action has been taken by the police. An arrest will not fetch significant results, cops need to take more stringent action.
