Pune businessman fires in the air after argument over late pizza delivery; arrested
Lonikand police station senior inspector, Vishvajeet Kaingade, said Chetan Vasant Padwal was arrested after the complaint was received
PUNE: A 27-year-old businessman was arrested by the Pune police on Tuesday on charges that he assaulted a delivery partner over an argument about the late delivery of a pizza that he had ordered and eventually fired in the air to scare him from his licensed firearm, police said on Wednesday.

Police said the businessman, identified as Chetan Vasant Padwal of Ozone Villas in Wagholi, was arrested. A first information report (FIR) was registered against him under sections 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide), 323 (causing hurt), 504 intentional insult to provoke breach of peace and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
“After investigation, it was found that the accused openly fired from his licenced firearm in the air. Fortunately, no one was injured in this incident,” said Lonikand police station senior inspector, Vishvajeet Kaingade. He added that Padwal was arrested immediately after the complaint was received.
Citing the complaint received against Padwal, who has a stone-crushing business, a police officer said Chetan Padwal placed an order for a pizza at 10:30pm on a mobile phone app. The order was confirmed by a pizza outlet. Rahul Ghorpade was assigned to deliver the pizza. The delivery person was accompanied by an acquaintance, Rushikesh Annapurne.
By the time Rahul Ghorpade reached Padwal’s house to make the delivery, it was about 11pm.
Chetan Padwal complained that the delivery was late. An argument soon ensued.
Police said the businessman allegedly used abusive language and hit Ghorpade. When Ghorpade and Annapurne resisted, the businessman allegedly walked up to his vehicle at about 11:15pm, pulled out a firearm and fired in the air to threaten the two.
