Police crack ₹10 lakh robbery case in six hours; 2 held
According to the police, the accused reportedly intercepted the complainant, snatched the bag, and fled on a motorcycle
The city police arrested two individuals within six hours after they allegedly robbed a bag containing ₹10 lakh cash from a businessman’s staff on Tuesday.

The incident was reported near Mahalaxmi Jewellers in Khadki Bazar area at around 1.55pm. The stolen cash and a motorcycle used in the crime were seized from the arrested accused identified as Chetan Mangesh Godse, 28, and Akash Kailash Mali, 25, of Chakrapani Vasahat in Bhosari. Godse worked as a labour and Mali is driver.
According to the police, the accused reportedly intercepted the complainant, snatched the bag, and fled on a motorcycle.
Complainant Amir Yusuf Sayyad, 66, of Bijalinagar in Chinchwad, working as manager with scrap dealer Sushil Kumar, had collected ₹10 lakh cash from their godown in Chakan area and left for Khadki in a car. When he stepped out of the four-wheeler and walked in Khadki Bazar area, the two masked motorcycle-borne individuals snatched his bag and fled.
“As a part of their business, the complainant was to hand over cash to a jeweller in Khadki area when he was robbed,” a police official said.
Based on technical analysis and CCTV camera footages, the police found that Mali was a former staff with Kumar and had hatched the robbery plan.
Gajanan Chormale, inspector (crime), Khadki Police Station, said, “The suspects have been booked under Section 309(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).”
