Nine, including seven children, injured in petrol generator blast in Satara

At least nine people were injured, including seven children, in a petrol generator blast in Satara district on Tuesday. The harrowing incident occurred when the Durga Devi procession, a cherished tradition in Mahabaleshwar, was in full swing.

The injured were identified as Ovi Pol (4), Samarth Sapkal (7) Saisha Pawar (4), Ashish Mohite (19), Kunal Raut (24), Alina Nadaf (6), Shivadnya Ombale (4), Sanskruti Wadkar (6), and Aradhya Bhosale (4).
A case has been registered at Mahabaleshwar police station against Umesh Pisal, a tractor driver under sections 337 (Causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), 338(Whoever causes grievous hurt to any person by doing any act so rashly or negligently as to endanger human life) and 34 of the Indian Penal Code and further investigation is going on.
Satara police were quick to respond to the crisis, ensuring that the injured minors received immediate medical attention. The victims were rushed to nearby medical facilities for treatment.
SK Bhagwat, police inspector at Mahabaleshwar police station, said, “A total of nine including seven minors were injured in the incident. As of now, we have booked the tractor driver.”
Preliminary investigations suggest that a technical malfunction in the generator may have led to the explosion. The exact cause is being scrutinized by authorities as they aim to prevent similar incidents in the future, said officials.
Four injured were shifted to Pune, three were shifted to Satara and two were discharged from the hospital, said officials.
