Pay additional security deposit or face disconnection of power: Mahavitaran

The Maharashtra State Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL), also known as Mahavitaran, has issued separate bills for additional security deposit to electricity consumers and is appealing for payment in six instalments. Failing this, the company will issue one month's notice to consumers, and if the payment is not made within that time, the power supply will be disconnected in line with section 147/2 of the Maharashtra Electricity Regulation Commission (MERC) Electricity Supply Code Regulations, 2021. Mahavitaran is now charging twice the average monthly electricity bill as security deposit, whereas previously it charged the average monthly electricity bill.
