LPG cylinder explosion in Kothrud during illegal refilling, two booked

One person was injured due to an explosion while illegally filling Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) in Kothrud on Tuesday. Two people have been booked in the incident, said police.

The incident occurred at Om Gas Agency in Jai Bhavaninagar, Kothrud, on Tuesday at 8 pm.
The accused have been identified as Vishnukant Dhanaji Chandeshwar, 45, a resident of Kothrud and Ashish Ramesh Yadav, 19, a resident of Jai Bhavaninagar, Kothrud.
Police said Chandeshwar was working as a driver at the agency and Yadav was his co-worker.
Two accused were involved in an allegedly illegal refilling of LPG gas from big cylinders into small cylinders to get monetary benefits, said officials.
Yadav sustained minor severe injuries in the incident. After the incident locals called the police and shifted the injured person to a nearby hospital.
Rajkumar Adagale, assistant police inspector, Kothrud police station, said, “Even after knowing their actions may endanger human lives, they were involved in the illegal activity.”
A case has been registered at Kothrud police station under sections 436, 338,285,34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and relevant sections of the Essential Commodity Act.
