Law student found dead at hostel, Pune police lodge abetment to suicide case

A third-year law student of the Marathawada Mitra Mandla’s Law College died by suicide at the Gokhale Nagar hostel, Vidyarthi Sahayyak Samiti in the city on May 9.
The deceased was allegedly being harassed by a youth whom he had helped to obtain a loan of ₹50,000 through mediation. The deceased was a resident of Ashti in the Beed district.
According to the police, the father of the deceased registered a case at Chaturshrungi police station on Wednesday.
The incident took place at the hostel at around 6:30 pm, said police.
During the investigation, police found a suicide note in which the deceased mentioned that he was being harassed by a youth whom he had helped to obtain a loan of ₹50,000 through mediation. The constant harassment is believed to have driven the young law student to take his own life.
The police have registered a case of abetment to suicide against the accused and an investigation is currently ongoing.
A case has been registered at Chaturshrungi police station under section 306.
