The minimum temperature in Pune city has started to fall in single digits in the last two days. After witnessing 8.6 degrees Celsius on Monday, the temperature further dropped 7.4 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.

The temperature in Pune was lower than that of Mahableshwar (14.2 degrees Celsius). Jalgaon was the lowest in the state with 5.3 degrees Celsius. In Central Maharashtra, Jalgaon was followed by Pune(7.4 degrees Celsius) while Nashik was 7.6 degree Celsius.
“The minimum temperature is expected to rise slowly from Wednesday in Maharashtra. Temperature is expected to be around 8 degrees Celsius on Wednesday and from Thursday, the minimum temperature will rise till January 14. From January 15 we are expecting a drop in the minimum temperature again for a couple of days. On Tuesday, Pune recorded the lowest temperature of this winter season.” said Anupam Kashyapi, head of the weather forecasting department at India Meteorological Department (IMD), Pune.
According to IMD, Pune witnessed the coldest January day on Tuesday since 2017. The second lowest temperature of the season was 8.7 degrees Celsius on January 9 and the third lowest was on October 30, 2022 (12.6 degrees Celsius).
“The city is witnessing a drop in temperature as a cold wave over north India is influencing weather in Maharashtra.The western Himalayas is also witnessing snowfall which is also one reason for drop in temperature,” added Kashyapi.
In Konkan region, Alibaug was the coldest with a minimum temperature of 15 degrees Celsius. In Marathwada, Aurangabad reported 7.7 degrees Celsius while Parbhani was 10 degrees Celsius.
