Pune district guardian minister Ajit Pawar instructed Maha-Metro to prepare DPR for Metro rail from Phoenix Mall to Wagholi on Ahmednagar Road and Bhairoba Nala to Loni on Solapur Road
PUNE Pune district guardian minister Ajit Pawar instructed Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha-Metro) to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for Metro rail from Phoenix Mall to Wagholi on Ahmednagar Road and Bhairoba Nala to Loni on Solapur Road.
Pawar held a review meeting of various roads and metro project on Saturday with officials from Maha-Metro, National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).
“Metro work is a continuous exercise and we should consider extension routes. I have asked officials to prepare the DPR from Phoenix Mall to Kharadi and Wagoli on Ahmednagar Road,” he said.
The NHAI has already planned the elevated route. Both, NHAI and Metro should co-ordinate and prepare the elevated metro route DPR on Ahmednagar Road,” he said.
During the meeting, Pawar underlined how the Solapur Road faces traffic issues and insisted that the metro rail project on this route should be a priority.
“The DPR should be prepared from Bhairoba Nala to Loni. In future, the metro will be extended till Uruli Kanchan on this route,” he said.
According to Maha-Metro Managing Director Shravan Hardikar, the metro route between Ruby Hall and Ramwadi will be operational soon and trial runs are already done.
“Route between Vanaz and Ramwadi will be operational and DPR for Khadakwasla to Swargate is ready,” he said.
Hardikar said, “The second phase works of the metro will start in the city very soon.”
NCP MLA Sunil Tingre and Chetan Tupe both were also present at the meeting. They both demanded the metro extension on Solapur and Ahmednagar Road.
