160 workers from Pune stranded in Sudan sugar factory seek help to return home

Around 160 workers from Pune, Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra have been left stranded in Rabak city, Sudan amid fighting between the army and a rival paramilitary force. The workers, who are employed at the Kenana Sugar Company, travelled to Sudan on work visas. Despite repeated attempts to contact company management, there has been no response. Meanwhile, hundreds have died and thousands wounded in the fighting, leaving the country at risk of a humanitarian disaster. India has launched ?Operation Kaveri? to bring back its citizens stranded in Sudan.
