YouTuber Manish Kashyap has been lodged in Madurai jail for allegedly spreading fake news about purported attacks on migrant labourers in Tamil Nadu
YouTuber Manish Kashyap, lodged in Madurai jail for allegedly spreading fake news about purported attacks on migrant labourers in Tamil Nadu, was produced before separate courts in two cases, in Bihar’s Bettiah on Monday, police said.

Kashyap was produced before the court of chief judicial magistrate (CJM), Bettiah in a case related to obstructing a bank manager from discharging his official duty. After that he was produced before the court of judicial magistrate Manjoor Alam in a case of manhandling a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Umakant Singh a day before the assembly election in 2020, police said adding, he was brought here on transit remand by the Tamil Nadu police.
Kashyap’s lawyer Abdul Hai Akhtar said the court ordered Manish Kashyap to be sent to Bettiah jail. “He will be lodged at Bettiah jail. Now it is up to the administration where he is kept. The court can ask Kashyap to appear before it in person whenever he is wanted,” said Akhtar, who argued for Kashyap in the CJM court.
Appearing before the court of judicial magistrate Manjoor Alam, another lawyer Vinod Kumar Mishra argued that seven cases were pending against Kashyap in West Champaran and hence he be lodged in Bettiah jail.
However, Tamil Nadu police took him under their custody following the appearance.
