A reporter from a YouTube news channel has been arrested for allegedly attempting to disrupt harmony between two communities, the Darbhanga police said on Monday.

The arrest came after certain anti-social elements compromised the law-and-order situation in the area, and two channels on YouTube aired ‘ground reports’ allegedly perpetrating misleading and objectionable content, the police said.
An incident took place in Shivdhara bazaar locality in Darbhanga on July 23.
The office of the senior superintendent of police said in an official statement on Monday, indicating that YouTube ‘reporter’ Ajay Kumar, who hails from Ijra village under Rahika police station in Madhubani, was arrested for spreading misleading and objectionable content through his channel.
The police examined the content of the alleged news channels and found that the videos showcased hostility and attempts to disrupt harmony between two communities.
Consequently, a complaint was filed against both the channels at the cyber police station under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the IT Act.
