Army soldier returning home on leave arrested; Bihar police said he was drunk
Police said the suspect was arrested from the Dibrugarh-Lalgarh Avadh Assam Express and produced before a judge on Thursday who remanded him in judicial custody
PATNA: An army personnel on his way home on a train from Assam was arrested in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur on Wednesday following allegations that he was drunk in violation of the state’s dry law and also misbehaved with a woman passenger, police said.

“A breathalyser test established he had consumed liquor in the air-conditioned compartment. He is the resident of Madahvpur village under Rasoolpur police station of Saran district,” station house officer of Government Railway Police (GRP) Muzaffarpur Dinesh Sahu said.
Police said Chandra Bhusan Kumar was taken into custody from the Dibrugarh-Lalgarh Awadh Assam (15909) train and produced before a judge on Thursday who remanded him in judicial custody.
Bihar’s liquor prohibition law, enforced in April 2016, bans manufacture, sale, and consumption of liquor.
Police said the Railway Protection Force Katihar sent a message that a 28-year-old woman passenger who was on her way to Rajasthan was being harassed by a co-passenger.
Rail SP (Muzaffarpur) Kumar Ashish said the train had left for Samastipur by the time the Muzaffarpur GRP control received the information and a joint team was sent to the B-3 coach.
Police said the suspect also created a scene at the police station allegedly under the influence of liquor.
