UPESSC Asst Prof Exam to be held on April 16-17 in six cities

The recruitment exam for filling up 1,017 vacant posts of Assistant Professors in government-aided degree colleges across the state will be conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) on April 16 and 17 in two shifts—from 9:30 am to 11:30 am and from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm—officials informed.

For this, examination centres have been set up in six districts of the state, including Agra, Meerut, Lucknow, Prayagraj, Gorakhpur and Varanasi, they added.

UPESSC has released a detailed examination schedule in this regard, bringing to an end a wait of three years for the aspirants. The application process for this recruitment had concluded in August 2022 itself.

Around 1.14 lakh candidates had applied for this recruitment till August 2022, out of which about 82,000 were found to be eligible to appear in the recruitment examination.

According to the secretary of the commission, Manoj Kumar, on April 16, Sanskrit, Political Science, Economics, History, Home Science, Painting, Military Science/Defence Studies, Agricultural Economics and Horticulture exams will be conducted in the first shift, while Sociology, Geography, English, Mathematics, Psychology, Physical Education, Chemistry, Music-Sitar/Vedan and Music-Tabla subjects will be conducted in the second shift.

Likewise, on April 17, the examination for Ancient History, Education, Physics, Commerce, Anthropology, Botany, and Asian Culture will be conducted in the first shift, followed by Music (Singing), Hindi, Urdu, Philosophy, Statistics, Zoology, Law, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Science in the second shift.

The examination schedule was approved in a meeting of the commission chaired by its director, Prof Kirti Pandey, on Tuesday.

A separate advertisement for the posts of Assistant Professor (BEd subject), advertised in July 2022 as part of this very recruitment, will be issued soon in compliance with the order passed on September 1, 2023, in petition number 12803/22 filed in the Allahabad High Court and Special Leave Petition number 17719/2023 filed in the Supreme Court, New Delhi. Its details will be released separately later, officials added.
