Gurugram: The Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Ltd. (DHBVN) will waive off all surcharges if defaulters pay their pending energy bills by November 30, discom officials said on Saturday.

All defaulter consumers in the 11 circles of DHBVN, including two in Gurugram, can avail this facility, officials added.
The managing director of DHBVN, PC Meena, said that besides surcharge waiver, a 5% additional discount will be given to consumers who have dues pending till December 31, 2021.
“Those consumers whose power connections were disconnected over pending bills can also take advantage of the facility,” Meena said. He said that such consumers will have to deposit a part of their pending bill and the rest of the amount can be paid in six instalments.
“Once a part payment is made, the consumers will get their connections restored. All private consumers falling under the category of urban supply, rural domestic and agricultural sector can avail this discount,” Meena added.
However, Meena clarified that if a defaulter again fails to deposit six consecutive bills, the surcharge amount, which was waived off by technically freezing it, will be reimposed. He said those consumers who have disputes related to their power bills, can withdraw their litigation to avail the waiver.
“This is to encourage consumers to pay their pending bills. A consumer will have to contact the concerned sub-divisional officer for availing these facilities,” Meena said.
Discom officials said that 236 defaulters in Gurugram circle-I cleared ₹1.14 crore pending energy bill and got ₹21.8 lakh surcharge waiver, while 1,132 consumers from circle-II cleared ₹3.29 crore pending bill and got ₹86.2 lakh surcharge relief.
Overall, consumers from the two Gurugram circles have cleared ₹4.43 crore in pending bills, which is the highest in the 11 circles of southern Haryana where DHBVN supplies electricity to consumers. Gurugram is followed by Jind circle, where consumers have cleared 4.41 crore dues in pending bills.
Officials said that till now, 14,996 domestic, agricultural or government sector consumers have cleared ₹26 crore pending dues from the 11 circles of DHBVN, including the two circles from Gurugram and received ₹18 crore surcharge waivers.
